The "Celts" (pronounced kelts or selts) lived in Britain and Western Europe between 500 BC and 400 AD and spoke their own language -- Celtic. In the ancient Celts culture, signs and symbols held immense meaning and power.

It was common for Celtic warriors to cover themselves with tattoos as well as spike and color their hair with dye made from flowers to indimidate their enemies.

Many Celtic symbols and signs have become popular tattoos because of their beautiful and intricate designs and artwork. Celtic tattoos have a similar but different style to some of the different Polynesian styles of tattooing -- often monochromatic and with geometric and/or complementary shapes and designs.
